A page of links seems anachronistic somehow in 2017. Yet I am consistently surprised by finding software I had not previously known about, which is nevertheless quite good. (Many of these I have started using only in the last year or two.) It's an exciting time to be a geek. The software below is all open source, or at least free, though that reflects my budget more than my ideology.
